The Workload in the M / G / 1 Queue with Work

چکیده
We consider an M/G/1 queue with the special feature of additional negative customers, who arrive according to a Poisson process. Negative customers require no service, but at their arrival a stochastic amount of work is instantaneously removed from the system. We show that the workload distribution in this M/G/1 queue with negative customers equals the waiting time distribution in a GI/G/1 queue with ordinary customers only; the eeect of the negative customers is incorporated in the new arrival process.

Optimization of M G 1 Queue with Vacation (TECHNICAL NOTE)
This paper reports on the minimization of the average waiting time of the customers in the M/G/1 queue with vacation. Explicit formula for the unknown service parameter of a particular customer has been obtained by considering the exhaustive service discipline in the case of multi-user with unlimited service system. Moreover, results in case of partially gated and gated service disciplines unde...
متن کاملM M m K Queue With Additional Servers and Discouragement (RESEARCH NOTE)
Waiting in long queue is undesirable due to which in some practical situations customers become impatient and leave the system. In such cases providing additional servers can reduce long queue. This investigation deals with multi-server queueing system with additional servers and discouragement. The customers arrive in poisson fashion and are served exponentially by a pool of permanent and addi...
متن کاملM m m Queue with Balking, Reneging and Additional Servers
In this paper, we consider a multi-server queuing system in which additional servers are allowed for a longer queue to reduce the customer’s balking and reneging behavior. The customers are assumed to arrive in Poisson fashion and their service- times follow exponential distribution. The number of servers in long run depends on the queue-length. We obtain equilibrium queue size distribution. Th...

1 The M/G/1 Queue Recall that an M/G/1 queue consists of a single server who receives customers at the times of a Poisson process at rate λ > 0 that wait in line to be served on a sequential basis in order of arrival. The i-th customer comes with a workload for the server given by the random variable ξi. The quantities {ξi : i ≥ 1} are i.i.d. The server processes incoming work at a constant (un...
متن کاملRAPPORT A note on negative customers , GI / G / 1 workload , and risk processes
Recently the workload distribution in the M/G/1 queue with work removal has been analysed , and has been shown to exhibit a generalized Pollaczek-Khintchine form. The latter result is explained in this note by transforming the model into a standard GI/G/1 queue. Some extensions are also discussed, as well as a connection with a `dual' risk process.
